State Meet DATE CHANGES

The State Meet dates have changed to Thursday Feb 22 and Friday Feb 23.
The race schedule will stay the same for each day, Thursday will be classic and Friday Skate.


The weeks schedule for Feb 19 to Feb 23


Monday Feb 19 - scheduled day off. BUT if you did not ski Sunday then get out for an easy hour ski
Tuesday Feb 20 - 10am Skate practice, meet at Pineland.
                              12:30pm Girls wax at the High School
                              2:30pm boys wax at the High School
                              6:00pm Pasta Party  location TBD
Wednesday Feb 21 - 7:30am meet at High school
                              8:00am leave Freeport
                              2:00pm arrive Fort Kent
Thursday Feb 22 - 1:00pm Girls Classic
                               2:30pm Boys Classic
Friday Feb 23 - 9:00am Girls Skate Pursuit
                          10:30am Boys Skate Pursuit
                          1:00pm approximate time for Awards
                           2:30pm leave Fort Kent
                           8:30pm estimated time getting back to Freeport

Packing list

Wednesday:

·        Ski equipment Classic and Skate skis, boots and poles

·        Layered clothing and Outerwear including a rain jacket

·        Bag lunch/snacks for that day

·        Water bottles, small amount of cash if you want a snack when we make pit stops

·        A day bag for anything needed during the day – your overnight gear may not be accessible!

For remainder of trip:

·        Layered clothing (all possible COLD conditions)

·        Pajamas/sweats/loungewear, slippers (a must!)

·        Cards, favorite games, music,

·        Toiletries

·        Any medications needed (please make chaperones aware of medical conditions)

·        Other? (book, cell phone, etc.)

·        Skiers will each have a single bed or bed to share, however each may choose to bring a sleeping bag, pillow, if preferred.

Behavior

·        As in the past, we have a terrific group of skiers this year!  And as with all school trips, students are expected to be on their best behavior.  They are representing our school and town and Freeport has a reputation for outstanding sportsmanship.  All school rules need to be followed. Skiers may not leave the inn or any other venue without specific permission from one of the adult chaperones or coaches.

Sorry for the delay in the announcement of the state meet team.


Congratulations to the entire team on performing so well at the Western Maine Conference championships. It was a couple hard races with the new snow creating some tough conditions.
It is really hard to believe we are down to the last official race of the season, the State Meet.


I would love to take everyone to Fort Kent to race, since you all have been working very hard to improve your skiing and to support each other on the team. We can only race 8 boys and 8 girls at the State meet. Elysha and I have been thinking about the team and have decided on the following skiers to represent Freeport this year. Please talk with Elysha or myself if you have any questions on the team decision.

I hope everyone will be at practice even if you are not skiing at States. We are a team and I would love to have everyone finish off the season practicing together. We will have practice the same as all other weeks. Tuesday Through Saturday.
