We had a very successful Western Maine Conference race tonight. All skiers impressed the coaches with their focus before and after the race and how hard they challenged themselves during the race.
This was the last of the WMC seasonal races. We have one more race before the championship races begin next week.
This Saturday Brunswick and Freeport will travel back to Bethel for a fun skier cross style race on the Gould ski trails. This is a 2pm afternoon race so the bus is at 11:30, Saturday Feb 1.
There will be different styles of "obstacles" within the 2.5k loop, skied twice.
Next Wednesday Feb 5 is the first WMC Championship race. It is Scheduled to be at Libby Hill but that may change depending how the snow holds out.
Since this is a WMCC race the start time will be earlier than usual. Girls start at 2pm and the boys start at 3pm. The Wednesday race is classic, interval start.
The Saturday race, Feb 8 is skate and a pursuit format.
It would be really great to have snacks for the team to eat on the way back from the race if parents are able to pull something together before next Wednesday. And, thank you!!
After the final WMCC race on Saturday Feb 8 we will announce the skiers who will make up the Freeport state meet team. Hard to believe it is almost time for states.
Let me, Coach Dyer or Coach Marion know if you have any questions.
The best thing to make your skis faster for states is to wax your skis everyday.
