No Practice Friday Jan 12
Saturday practice delayed - 10am - 12pm
There will be no practice Friday Jan 12 due to both coaches having meetings.
Please get out on your skis for an easy 45 to 60 minute ski if possible.
End the ski with a 15 minutes of double poling.
I will be at the ski room Friday at 5:15 pm if anyone is interested in waxing their skis for Monday.
Saturday practice will be an hour later, 10am - 12pm.
Be aware of the weather and come out only if it is safe and you are comfortable driving.
We will be skating Saturday. Bring an extra set of clothes as it may be raining and we will may be getting wet. If it is raining, you need to change your clothes before heading home so you don't cool down too fast and get chilled.

Monday Jan 15 race information
Wanting to get Monday's race information out sooner than later in case parents are planning on attending.
Below is the info from the Fryeburg coach. It is a longer day due to the different start times.
It will be a cold day so it will be very important to bring layers and heavy coats, Caroline, to make sure you do not get cold while waiting for your race or after while your race.
Caroline, Abbye, Catalina and Elsa will be in the individual race, start time at 12:20
Everyone else will be on a team, start times listed below.

Coaches,
I hope everything went well today. The Pineland race was great, many
thanks to everyone involved with that.
Looking ahead to our relay race on Monday:
We obviously have a few challenging weather days ahead but experience has shown
that Stark’s should hold snow fine (my biggest concern will be ponding in the
stadium). It will be fast skiing on Monday for certain!
I know we talked about some format changes but I’m going to stick with what we
have done in the past because it has worked so well.
Skate – 3.93k per leg, map attached.
2 girls teams and 2 boys teams per school (4 skiers per team). Everyone
else will be in the individual race. We limit the field to keep the day
moving – this has worked well in the past. You can have skiers within
your team do multiple legs to fill out a team, but please no mixed teams
between schools.
Rather than using the online system, just email me your teams and individuals –
in Excel if possible.
Girls start at 10:00
Boys 11:10
Boys Individual Mass Start at 12:15 (I’m going to keep the boys first to
limit overtaking racers)
Girls Individual Mass Start at 12:20

Telstar Relays Cancelled / Saturday practice 11:00AM
It is official the Telstar relays have been canceled for Saturday.
I will be at the wax room after Friday's practice to help with waxing skis, since it is still a very very good idea to wax them every day if possible.
We will hold a practice at Pineland on Saturday BUT it will be at 11:00AM. CLASSIC SKIING
It will be very cold, or should I say it will be the same as Fort Kent, so dress as you did last week in Fort Kent, not as you did in the Cayman Islands.
I assume we are canceling Friday's pasta party but that is up to you and if you want an excuse to take over the Johnston's house. :)

Ski camp photos
First off, great job again to everyone at camp! Also a big thanks to parents and chaperones for making it all possible!
Second off, great work at the race yesterday at Pineland. You all raced hard and the results show it (boys first place, girls second place). Let's keep up the great work and continue to work hard at training and pushing each other. Nice work sticking to your goals and committing to warm up and cool down.
I just wanted to share with everyone some of the side adventures to ski camp. I’m not sure there’s another Nordic team that loves alpine slopes or powder as much as we do!

1st WMC race
Race results can be found on Cool Running website.
Congratulations to everyone for some really good racing today. Amazing results and a great start for both teams and it takes a team to score well so lets keep supporting each other and look forward to the next race which may be next Wednesday with the way the temps look for Saturday.
If practice is canceled for Thursday then try to get out in your neighborhood for a backyard ski or snowshoe with poles and go for a least an hour.
We will have practice Friday and then wax skis Friday before we head to the pasta party at the Johnston's.
Great job can't wait for the next race. :)

Holiday camp and week of Jan 1
Thanks to all of you for such a great ski camp at Fort Kent. Lets just say the weather was a bit challenging with 3 days hovering around 0F.
Also thanks to all the parent volunteers for making the trip go so smoothly.
If you have photos of the ski camp please forward them on to everyone to enjoy.
The Fort Kent Outdoor Center is interested in holding a ski/biathlon summer camp for anyone from Southern Maine. I will work on this later this winter.
The week of Jan 1 starts the race season with a mass start skate race on Wednesday Jan 3 and then the Telstar Skate relay race on Saturday Jan 6
Wednesday's race starts at 3:30pm with the girls going first followed by the boys.
Saturday's race starts at 11:00am and the teams will consist of 2 girls and 2 boys.
Dress warmly, just like Fort Kent as it will still be cold. Wednesday and Thursday will be a heat wave as it is supposed to be in the 20's
Saturday is supposed to be back down in the low single digits so dress extra warm as Telstar usually has a wind in the field.
Tomorrow, Tuesday Jan 2 practice is on at 3pm and we are meeting at Pineland, no bus.
Let the racing fun begin!!.

Week of Dec 18 and more
We will be heading to Pineland and we will be skating all week, unless we get snow and Pineland can set tracks.
Some of you may be traveling for the weekend, but I will still have practice Saturday for anyone who can make it.
My Christmas present to you is Saturday's practice will be at 10:00am :)
It is a good habit to stay after practice for 10 minutes and wax your skis. The more you wax your skis the faster they get. I'll let you know what wax to wax with each day.
Also, I would take advantage of the LL Bean free hot box, just make sure you have the discount card with you to prove you are on the ski team. I have more if you did not get one.
Make sure they are clean before you drop them off. If you are dropping off classics skis for a hot box then make sure to clean the base and the sides of the skis, NO kick wax can be anywhere on the skis.
Sundays are a very important day to get out and ski on your own. Skiing should be low level/easy, but longer duration, 90 minutes. Keep the intensity low so you can focus on working on technique.
Think of what we tell you to work on during the week.
Elysha and I really appreciate the hard work you have been putting in at practice. Let's keep the energy going and get ready for our first race Jan 3.
