State team and Alternates updated

Here a list of the State team and alternates.
Only the members of the state team will be traveling with the school bus and staying over night. Alternates will be called if a state team skier is injured or becomes ill and cannot race.

All skiers who are not racing are welcome to come up and cheer on the team at both the nordic and alpine venues.  I hope to see some if not all of you there.

Uniforms and Fun race

If you do not plan on attending any more practices then you need to wash your uniform and give it to me this coming week. Only those skiers on the state team should hang on to the uniform.

There is always one more fun race usually after States. I hope everyone will be able to join the team. The race will be held depending on snow conditions. More information soon.

Practices Feb 13 - 17

Practices are open to anyone wantting to join us, but I will be giving my attention mostly to those on the state team. I certainly would like to see you all out skiing.

The schedule for the week:
Chris and Lia will classic all week.
Julius and Emma will skate all week.

Monday Feb 13 - Day off! Do not ski or run just rest and relax on the couch and of course do some easy stretches.

2012 Freeport Nordic State Team

Sorry for the late State team announcement.

I want to thank everyone on the team for a great ski season. It was not an easy year with the strange spring like weather we've had and the lack of snow. Thanks for being patience and able to change and adapt to the conditions that were thrown at us.
It was a very dificult decision choosing the state team. I wish you all could go. After getting some feedback and reviewing finishes here is the 2012 Freeport Nordic State team.

Thursday Feb 2 Race

Bus leaves the High School at 1:00. Don't be late.

Wax your skate skis, Use Swix CH or LF 8 (red) or if using SkiGo use Skigo yellow.

When we get to Fryeburg everyone should get head to the start area. Get your bib before heading out for a warm-up.
Warmup by skiing the course especially focus on getting comfortable on the downhill.
get back in time to relax a few minutes before your start.

The race is a 4 man wave start.
This is a great time to challenge yourself. If there is a person in your group  faster than you, work hard to stay with them as long as you can, draft as close as you can.
If you are the fastes skier then try to push it hard on the hill and drop all the other skiers so they are not drafting off you.

After the race it is important that everyone ski at least the course one more time before leaving.
We should have results before we leave.

Friday practice bus leaves at 2:45
Saturday practice is at 9:00 and we will meet at Pineland.
