Make sure you have both your skis ready for practice this week skate and classic. If we get enough snow and we can find a place to ski then we will ski. It may not be Pineland so bring your old skis if you have some.
Wax your skis with some colder wax before you ski for the first time, this week.
Bring your running shoes to practice as well because, we may have to run.
If you have not viewed the videos of the Quebec City World Cup then you should. The races are really fun to watch and you get to see the best of the world racing.
USSA is streaming the races live so check out their website and get the schedule. The next race will be the Super Tour starting Sept 29.
Watching videos is a great way to observe technique. We will be takng some of you over the holiday and through out the ski season.

New Assistant Coach
Freeport High School has a new Assistance Coach for the Varsity Nordic Ski Team
I am pleased to annouce that we have just hired a new assistance coach, Heather Zimmerman.
Heather has recently returned to Maine after spending two years volunteering in Northern India teaching English as a second language. During her time in India (as well as Nepal and Bhutan) she was able to spend a lot of time trekking and mountaineering in the Himalayan mountains.
Prior to this Heather graduated from Telstar High School in 2003 where she was the 2003 skate state champion, and was a member of both the J2 and EHSC teams.
In 2004 she worked for MWSC, lived at the Nordic Heritage Center in Presque Isle, was the Fort Kent NorAM top junior and a member of New England Junior Olympic team.
Heather attended the University of New Hampshire from 2004 to 2008 and was a member Nordic ski team, and an NCAA alternate.
In 2008/ 2009 she was a member of CXC Elite team, lived in Hayward WI, was 2nd in the Birkie Sprints, and 3rd in the Madison Capitol Team sprints.
Please join me in welcoming Heather to our team..
