Friday, 2/15: OFF day for the entire team. Take the time to recover from a week of studies and prepare for the weekend/coming week. That said, Friday afternoon presents a wonderful opportunity for CLEANING YOUR SKIS! Everyone's skis MUST be clean BEFORE practice on Saturday morning. This includes cleaning the kick zone, sidewalls and tops of your skis. Tomorrow evening we are having a team pasta party at the Brainard's home.
Saturday, 2/16: We will meet at Pineland at 9am for CLASSIC practice! We will ski for 2 hours and then wax/clean skis for an additional hour. Therefore, skiers should plan to be picked up at 12pm. This practice is mandatory and you MUST email us if you will be missing it.
State team members will depart from FHS at 7am on Sunday morning.
The following is a list of things to bring to Presque Isle:
1. Skate and classic race skis
2. Skate and classic rock skis, used for pre-race warm ups. If you do not have a second pair of skis then you need to talk to your family, friends and fellow teammates, to see if someone has a pair that you can borrow.
3. Skate and classic poles
4. Skate and classic boots
5. Running sneakers
6. HATS (ladies, you need to bring hats with you, in addition to headbands)
7. Large WARM jacket to wear over warm ups (before/after races)
8. A large water bottle or 2 smaller bottles
9. Sunglasses and Sun cream
10. Race suits and warm-ups
11. At least 3 pairs of long-underwear tops and bottoms (to ensure that you always have a dry pair)
12. Post-race clothes (make sure that you bring dry clothes with you to the Nordic Heritage Center. This will allow you to change into warm, dry clothes after practicing/racing. Most days we will spend long periods of time at the NHC (either cheering on teammates or waxing skis), so you must be comfortable.
